How To Write The Perfect Essay

How To Write The Perfect Essay Now, to make sure you stay humble, tell the story of when that person helped you. They say a piece of short fiction is about a moment after which nothing will be the same again. What makes you angry or furious about the world? Tell the story of a time you saw somethingâ€"visuallyâ€"that provoked that anger or frustration. Your writing will include numerous tense shifts, word order problems, and number agreement errors. Add to these, bad translations suggested by Google translate, spelling errors, and the general chaos that comes with the cognitive overload of having to compose in a second language. That can make trying to communicate who you are as well as who you hope to become a daunting task. You might worry about sounding generic or not sounding like yourself or not sounding “smart” or “wise” enough. One of many students’ and parents’ biggest fears is the sheer anonymity of the process. An effective body paragraph should begin with a transition word or phrase to help your reader see the connections between your ideas. Tell the story of the most meaningful time you did this thingâ€"it might be, say, when you won a game, but it also might be when you lost a game, or when you quit the team. Did you grow up considering another place that is not where you currently live home? Tell the story of the first time you went there or the first time you remember going there. Was there a particular timeâ€"a summer, or a yearâ€"when that place became important? Describe the first time you saw their home, in story form. But none of those things seem to tell the admissions committee what they wouldn’t already know from simply reading her list of extracurriculars. It is good to be afraid of clichéâ€"but one of the truisms about clichés is that they become trite because they reiterate feelings we’ve all had. That also means that buried beneath many clichés is some authentic, particular, and personal relationship you have to your topic. In order to have this kind of time freedom, you’ll have to start early. But, we’ve offered some adjusted timelines lower down in case you don’t have the whole summer to work with. One of the major challenges for many students about applying to college is knowing that they are full of passion and potential energy which hasn’t yet been converted into kinetic energy. There are five kinds of weak thesis statements to avoid. With broad topics, it helps to limit the scope of your discussion by saying what is not your focus. Look at the beginning of your introductory paragraph and ask yourself how you might grab the reader’s interest more effectively. Select an essay type from the list and click check for a score and feedback. You can change the translation language at any time in your profile page. And if you spend your summer warming up and training for the main event, you can start rereading your body of freewriting by the end of July. What do your friends come to you seeking help with? Tell the story of a time when you think you did a great job of helping another person. Tell the story of the first time you learned about these valuesâ€"say, a morning at Sunday School or a conversation with a grandparent. If they’ve changed, tell the story of the moment when they changedâ€"say, in a classroom, in a conversation with a friend, etc. What do people in your community or school know you for? Tell the story of the first time you did this thing. Who’s a family member who lives with you and is important to you? Think of a specific time they helped you with something. What’s an important conversation you had with them? Submitting texts containing avoidable errors to a teacher indicates a lack of learning or care, and should be scored lower than texts without avoidable errors. Obviously, you should check the sentence for common errors. For beginners and intermediate learners, however, your needs are different. You will need a grammar checker that checks for common developmental errors and transfer errors from your first language. You will also have difficulty constructing and conjugating verbs.

The Basics Of Essay Writing

The Basics Of Essay Writing If you start writing lengthy descriptions of all characters and the plot, stop and double-check if this information helps your analysis. Critical essays are about interpretation and evaluation, not retelling the plot. Once the essay outline is ready, it’s time to write. (Yeap, finally!) Begin with an examination of the work and respond to its central claim. Then, analyze and evaluate it with the evidence. And finally, conclude your critical essay with the emphasis on its most essential insights. They need a paper demonstrating that you’ve read a source, understood its theme, and evaluated the evidence relating to that theme. Critical essays are among the most common types of writing assignments in college. A good vocabulary will allow you to express exactly what you mean, as clearly and concisely as possible. Sometimes, in the process of writing, you’ll realise that you entirely disagree with two-days-ago you, and you don’t really believe in the argument you’re trying to make. Return to your plan, and see if you can use similar material but change the emphasis, and perhaps the odd bit of evidence, to produce a different argument. 4) Start to fill out your skeleton with information from your notes, and any extra ideas you might have. If you’re writing a literature essay, it’s CRUCIAL that you include some close analysis of passages to support your argument. Jot down the sentences that link these in to the greater structure. my problem is writing critical essay on a topic not on a book, article or film, I guess I will just have to follow the same layout and format the essay. Yes, essays are many, and it might seem impossible to learn the differences between them and the rules of writing them. All you need to do is identify the purpose of your assigned work and outline it accordingly. Make sure to use a formal language in critical essays. It’s about grammatical and pronunciation norms used in intellectual and academic activities. And since your essay is analytical and requires credibility, a formal language is what you need to make it sound so. To make a long story short for you, here go answers to the most frequently asked questions about critical essay writing. Read them if you want your analytical essay to be A-worthy. If it is the case, go back to the drawing board. Don’t plough on regardless â€" a lack of conviction will show in your essay. Once you’ve completed the critical essay outline, it’s time to start writing. Do it quickly , paying attention to all the details from your outline. It might only be a bungalow, but at least it will stand. Start a vocabulary book â€" you probably have one if you’re learning a foreign language, so why not have one for your native language as well? Buy yourself a nice notepad and use it to collect new words and their meanings. The act of writing down the definition will help you remember it, and you could include an example of how the word is used to increase your chances of memorising it for use in essays. Also known as analytical, a critical essay is about evaluating somebody’s work (a movie, a book, an article, etc.) and proving that your evaluation is correct. A critical essay is a type of academic writing where the author analyzes and evaluates a text. For an essay to become critical, you need to claim a text’s particular ideas and then support that claim with evidence. To conclude, one can say that essay writing is a skill that is mastered gradually. One needs to understand the motive of an essay carefully in order to lay a good impression on the reader with the essay.

How To Construct An Essay

How To Construct An Essay For example, learn about how often you get distracted, and how fast you write. I've tried writing my 750 words a day on Livejournal, Wordpress, PBWorks, Tumblr, and all of these other sites designed around putting content online. I fear that I might accidentally forget to mark daily pages as private. And it's just weird having my private brain dumps out on various sites that are designed to be more social. I don't need to title my entries, or tag them, or enable comments, or any of that other stuff. This is writing, and it's online, but it's not blogging, or Twittering, or Facebook status updating. I need to find a wide font so I don’t have to write as many words to fill up the pages on my assignment. If you can send me in the direction of the best wide font to do this, that would be great. Depending on the genre of book you are writing, word count can be critical in whether or not your writing can actually be published. Publishers like certain genres to be within certain word counts, so any author who hopes to be published has to create their works within these counts. What am I supposed to do if I write 1000 words, but it doesn’t make the number of pages I want? I don’t think I should have to write more words just because mine happen to be shorter than my classmates. We both wrote the same number of words, his are just longer so it takes up more pages. That means people who write long words have an advantage even though long words aren’t always good to use. Just because an estimate won’t be exactly right doesn’t mean it isn’t useful. It can be helpful to come up with a quick answer in your head, as this gives you a general idea of what to write about and means you won't need to keep rereading the question. The very fact that they're short and worded in a very straightforward way means you're probably expected to construct a much more original and complex essay to respond to it. If you've been given a choice of essay questions, you should choose the one you have the most knowledge about, or have some strong opinions on. I think that since teachers don’t give page assignments but only word count assignments, it’s difficult to imagine how many pages that will be. I write longer words than most, so most of my pages have less words than the estimates on this page. You should change them so they are more accurate for people who use longer vocabulary words. Do you know what fonts have the widest spacing so that they fill up the page more quickly? Some of us get marked down points if we do not hit a certain word count or page count. If I’m assigned a paper and it has to be a minimum number of words, I worry about hitting that number. I have a writing assignment in school, and it is always helpful to know how many pages I will need. There are many reasons students find themselves in this pressurised situation . We're not here to judge, rather help you make the best of a tricky situation. You had every intention of getting your essay done before the deadline, but sometimes life can get in the way. Every day you write, you'll get beautiful stats that analyze the feelings, themes, and mindset of your words. In the past, looking for a spare notebook was probably easier than looking for a computer. I don't know if my hands even work anymore with pen and paper for any task that takes longer than signing a check or credit card receipt. I've long been inspired by an idea I first learned about in The Artist's Way called morning pages. Aye how many words do I have to put if I’m typing a 14 page essay. I agree that there are a lot of people who are overly concerned with word count, but there are legitimate reasons to keep it in mind as well. If it’s not something important to you and your writing, you can ignore it. It's about getting it all out of your head, and is not supposed to be edited or censored in any way. The idea is that if you can get in the habit of writing three pages a day, that it will help clear your mind and get the ideas flowing for the rest of the day. Unlike many of the other exercises in that book, I found that this one actually worked and was really really useful. I wrote an essay of 1550 words and it was barely 4.5 pages . I have a paper with ~2800 words and it is 3 lines past the 4th page.

Tips For Writing Essay Exams

Tips For Writing Essay Exams You should be writing notes during the 2nd and 3rd to document your findings. You also need to update your notes after every reading to consolidate your understanding of the text. Once you’ve written the whole essay, read over it again. You will save yourself literally days over the course of your university career. They allow you to reference as you write, and you can create and reformat your bibliography and citations at the touch of a button. Finally, make sure you formulate every claim in the strongest possible terms. What might be the immediate negative reaction of someone reading your central claim? How can you defend yourself against that response? Ideally you want to be able to split your burdens of proof into a few different points. Write out that response, then tell me why it doesn’t defeat your argument, or at least why it only mitigates it. This is the stuff that actually makes up your argument. If you perform poorly at this, you might as well pack up and go home. Next, think about what you need to prove in order to make that claim. You might think you’re too good for Point, Evidence, Explain. How are you going to relate your argument to the existing literature? Make sure you know their arguments reasonably well and have armed yourself with flexible quotes from their work. If you can, familiarise yourself with the people who think they’re wrong and awful. Figure out if there are arguments which are unresolved and see if you can make a contribution towards resolving them. Look at every premise you’ve used and claim you’ve made. Be aware whilst you’re reading that all arguments and authors are fallible. Think about the text you’re reading and think how you might respond to it. This is the single easiest way to get more marks. If I see an argument citing an author whom nobody else has mentioned, and it’s a decent argument, it will make my day. Start your intro with the central claim of your essay. If I’m reading it, I want to know within literally five seconds what you’re trying to convince me of. Ninety nine percent of the structure of your essay is exactly the same as you learned in secondary school. And even if the essay title isn't in the form of a question, make sure that you have something clear that you want to say. Don't just talk in general terms about the subject area. Make sure you have a clear point that you want to communicate in your essay. Don’t make your opponent look like they have no arguments, or take the weakest version of their argument. Think about the strongest possible response to the claim you’ve put forward, then beat that. If you’re making a claim, you need to tell me why that claim is correct. Think of a potential response to your argument, perhaps from an author you’re arguing against. Hello, my name is Robin Banerjee and I'm a senior lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Sussex. I teach many first year, second year and third year students so if you come into the Psychology department I'm sure I'll see lots of you while you're here. They might ask you to compare and contrast two different ideas, or say which of two theories is the more accurate. You don’t want to get penalised because you didn’t reference your readings properly after you’ve put in all that effort to make sure that your arguments are founded in the literature. You have a big test coming up, and you know it’s going to include an essay question that will account for a large percentage of your grade for the semester.

An essay is not like a mystery novel which keeps the reader in suspense; it should not slowly reveal the argument to the reader. Instead, the contention and supporting arguments are usually stated in the introduction. After getting an overview of the essay, you will be in a better position to choose a more relevant topic. Begin by brainstorming, sit down, be calm and start a free flow of thoughts and jot down ideas. If there is a word count for your essay try to devote 10% of this to your conclusion. You need to be concise, and clearly articulate your argument.

Roman Opposition To Jesus And His Followers - Free Essay Example

When the Romans chose to execute Jesus, they didnt have many legitimate reasons to oppose him or his followers; however, after Jesus death his following grew and so did the Romans opposition. Prior to his death, Jesuss movement was not viewed as a serious threat to Rome, because it consisted of a small, obscure group that had no army, weapons cache or known agenda to challenge the empires occupation. In other words, the Romans had no imminent reason to fear Jesus or his followers. During his lifetime, however, Jesus the teacher was primarily a problem for the Jewish High Priests. He openly questioned their authority and challenged both the Sadducees and Pharisees interpretations of the laws of Moses. He provoked the High Priests and they were motivated to quiet him. They appealed to the Romans, and Pilate chose to make an example of Jesus and condemned him to death by crucifixion but neither the Romans nor the High Priests foresaw the notion of Jesus the Messiah (Cole and Symes 183). Jesus followers claimed to have seen their resurrected leader, and they spread that message along with his beliefs to the people throughout the regions beyond Judea. In the textbook, Western Civilization, the authors state, Jesuss execution might have been the end of the story if not for his followers, who asserted that he had risen from the dead before being taken up into heaven (Cole and Symes 183). The Romans opposition to Jesus movement after his death was far greater than it was during his lifetime. Once Jesus movement, experienced greater growth, it eventually garnered two widespread, official persecutions that were ordered by emperors. As the movement continued to spread to non-Jewish territories for several centuries, Christians eventually included diverse groups of people. Those people didnt conform or meet the Romans behavioral expectations. The growing Christian population was insubordinate, because they refused to worship the Roman gods, they didnt recognize the divine authority of the Roman Emperor, and they were accused of gathering in secret to plot and practice evil, deviate behaviors. Today, we recognize that Jesus was the founder of the most historically significant religion of Western Civilization (Ehrman 195). Therefore, it may seem logical to assume in 2018 that he was a huge celebrity during his lifetime and he had the inclination to incite massive, rioting crowds to protest the Roman Empires occupation. Upon closer scrutiny, however, that assumption can be ruled out, as it is inaccurate. Jesus was not a revered celebrity during his lifetime. In fact, there are no existing writings about Jesus from pagan writers (i.e., those who were neither Jewish nor Christian) that survived from the first century of the Common Era (Ehrman 195). Per Bart D. Ehrman, nothing written by any pagan author of the first century so much as mentions Jesus name (Ehrman 195). Perhaps the absence of early, non-religious written material is indicative that Jesus and his followers were not well known to multitudes of people during his lifetime. It may also be logical to assume that they were not a very significant problem for the Romans while he was alive. Not long after Jesus was put to death, Paul began preaching the salvation message to the gentiles and it was instrumental to the growth of Christianity; however, the salvation message that won the hearts and minds of the gentiles also resulted in some unintended consequences. In A.D. 34-35, five years after the resurrection, when Paul was a relatively young man (though we have no certain information about the date of his birth), his life was turned around through an encounter with the risen Christ on a trip from Jerusalem to Damascus (Wilken 18). Paul claimed that the resurrected Jesus instructed him to stop persecuting his followers and tasked him to spread the gospel message to the gentiles. That event was transformation for Paul. He converted from a dedicated persecutor of early Christianity into a prolific advocate. It can be argued that throughout the entire history of Christianity from the first century to our own, no figure except Jesus has proved to be more important than the Apostle Paul (Ehrman 260). Once the Christians accepted the notion that the problem is sin, which is understood to be a transgression of Gods law; the solution is Christs death and resurrection, which are to be received by faith, they have accepted Jesus a deity and no longer a man (Ehrman 324-325). Because the Christians worshiped Jesus, a criminal, that the Romans executed for treason, they set themselves up to become targets for Roman opposition. In a little over three centuries, Christianity grew from obscure beginnings in a small Roman province to become the official religion of the empire, so one could assume that the Romans were constantly persecuting them to oppose their growth; however, that wasnt the case (Cole and Symes 180). Instead, Christians were tolerated by Roman officials, except when local magistrates chose to make an example of someone who flagrantly flouted authority (Cole and Symes 189). That is because for two centuries the movement wasnt large enough to matter. Its estimated that by the end of the first century Christians made up less than one percent of the Roman Empires population. Two hundred years later, in the year 300 Christians made up 10 percent of the population, approximately six million people (Wilkin 65). In the big scheme of things, Christianity was a relatively new, slow growing, insignificant religion and its followers had strange beliefs, but that didnt rise to the level of being significant enough to sustain a steady campaign to eliminate them. For the most part, the Roman Empire tolerated the Christians during the first century, but that shouldnt be confused with embracing them. The Romans were easily inclined to suspect the integrity of any social group which seemed to be secretive. Christians were admonished to hate life in this world, and they talked of the world in a way difficult to understand. They talked also of the end of this world A confusion of terms and the other-worldliness of Christian teaching may account for the popular notion these enthusiast, who practiced their religion so intensively, actually hated their fellowmen (Urch 257-258). They were also falsely accused of practicing cannibalism, incest and performing sacrifices, partly because their rituals were misu nderstood and partly because false rumors were spread. For example, the communion sacrament required participants to consume wine and bread which symbolized the blood and body of Jesus. This practice was misunderstood and fueled the rumor that Christians practiced cannibalism. For the first two hundred years that Christianity existed, there was only one persecution that was initiated by the reigning Roman emperor. Nero blamed Christians for a fire that occurred in Rome in 64 and he persecuted them as punishment. As rule, however, it was a time akin to a policy of dont ask, dont tell (Cole and Symes 190). A governor called, Pliny the Younger, wrote a letter to the emperor, Trajan to seek advice on how to handle the situations when Christians were accused before him. His policy was to give them ample opportunity to denounce Christianity, pledge allegiance to the emperor and recognize the Roman gods. If they did so, they were released. If they refused to do so multiple times, they were sentenced to execution, and that was due to their stubborn, unwillingness to declare Rome as the highest authority and denounce Christianity. Emperor Trajan responded to Pliny and verified that his policy was aligned with the emperors expectations. The first general persecution of Christians began in January 250. The date is noteworthy. Christianity had been around for more than two hundred years, yet this was the first systematic effort on the part of imperial authorities to force Christians to give up their beliefs and worship the Roman gods (Wilkin 65). Its been said that timing is everything and Christianity came about at an opportune time. For the most part the Roman empire was running smoothly for the first two centuries; however, in the third century, things were not as well. The Roman societies problems were many, defeats in war, incursions of peoples living on the borders, monetary collapse, floods, famine, plague. The whole period was one uninterrupted series of confusion and calamity, wrote Edward Gibbon, the historian of the decline of the Roman Empire (Wilkin 66). In 250, emperor Decius made it mandatory for all the citizens to pay homage to the Roman gods. He believed it was necessary to show appreciation for Rome s past success and it would also bring favor in the future. Unfortunately for the Christians, he believed that people who participated in newer religions, like theirs, were a threat to the Romes stability. Many Christians refused to obey the emperors decree and thus, they were imprisoned, tortured or killed. Works Cited: Cole, Joshua, and Carol Symes. Organizational Culture And Leadership An Organization

Favian Ramirez MGT 105 Professor Call Organizational Culture and Leadership Organizational culture and leadership both affect every day working lives, even if you notice it or not. There is no single definition for organizational culture but the concept consists of socially developed rules of conduct that are shared by members of an organization. Some researchers believe that many traits of an organization’s culture are so vague and general that even the members of the organization cannot accurately describe them. The reason for culture is to offer members with a sense of identity and to create a commitment to the beliefs and values of an organization. An understanding of organizational culture is crucial to building effective organizations since an organization’s culture affects the entire organization. Organizational leadership is a management approach that works towards what is best for individuals and what is best for a group as a whole. The attitude and a work ethic of a leader empowers an individual i n any role to lead from any part of an organization. A leader s success in business depends upon understanding organizational culture. Organizational culture defines leadership and to understand one’s leadership you will have to understand one’s culture. French And Indian War Essays - 1223 Words

The French and Indian War set the stage for future events that no one could ever have imagined. The economic practice of mercantilism, which insured profit only to the mother country was the accepted practice between England and her colonies. As long as these economic policies were met, England left much of the day to day governing of the colonies up to the colonies. It was this salutory neglect that ultimately led to the ideological differences between England and the colonies. England won the war, but it paid a great price for that victory. England was bankrupted, and as a result had no choice but to look to her colonies to regain financial stability. The pressures of taxation and naval restrictions imposed by the crown and Parliament,†¦show more content†¦The colonies did NOT wish to part with the British, they merely wished for a return of their autonomy. The French and Indian War, a colonial manifestation of the same forces and tensions that erupted in the European Seven Years War, was, quite simply, a war about imperialism. The French and the English were competing for land and trading rights in North America; these strivings resulted in a great deal of disputed land, particularly that of the rich Ohio Valley. Each nation saw this territory as vital in its effort to increase its own power and wealth while simultaneously limiting the strength of its rival. Although the war itself therefore stemmed from a fairly simple motivation, its consequences were far- reaching. The English victory in the war decided the colonial fate of North America, and yet at the same time sowed the seeds of the eventual colonial revolution. After the war, the British ended their century-long policy of salutary neglect, attempting to keep the colonials under a more watchful eye. The British also raised taxes in an effort to pay for the war. Both of these post war policies resulted in massive colonial discontent and added to the budding nationalism that eventually exploded in the Revolutionary War. The French and Indian War also had lasting (and devastating) effects for the Native American tribes of North America. The British took retribution against Native American nations that fought on the side of the French by cutting off theirShow MoreRelatedThe French And Indian War1095 Words   |  5 PagesThe French and India war was a war that took place in today’s Pittsburgh. Communication and Language Immigration Challenge †Free Samples

Question: Discuss about the Communication and Language Immigration Challenge. Answer: Introduction: Australia was the first country in the entire world to have established a department specifically meant for immigration back in 1945 (JuradoBrochmann, 2013). Millions of nurses have since then settled in Australia through migration program for skilled and family migrants and through humanitarian programs for refugees. It has since then evolved to the present day, nurses from especially developing countries around the world are migrating to developed countries mainly in search for what they call as greener pastier or in other terms, employment opportunities which are better. They are mostly nurses who are skilled or semi-skilled and looking for employment. Some also migrate due to political instability in their motherland to seek refuge in the neighboring countries. The main motive of this report is to evaluate the merits and demerits which come along with employing this nurses in hospitals and how the demerits can be solved. A Skilled worker can be defined in simple terms as a worker who has special training, knowledge and acquired ability in what they do. On the other hand, the term Migrant has no single universally agreed upon definition. According to McNamee, Pearson, Boer, and Palgrave (2015), a migrant is that person who owns a foreign citizenship or has moved to another country to stay temporarily or to settle for a long term. It generally means that a skilled migrant is that person who possesses a special knowledge in what he does and is based in a country which he is not a citizen. They moved to a foreign country to work specifically on their area of expertise. Benefits of Employing Migrant Nurses One of the main benefits of employing this nurses is that they provide cheap labor. Generally, economically stronger countries have greater job opportunities which attract foreign nurses to apply for this job. In the countries they come from, payment is always very low and therefore what they are being offered in the foreign countries is much more competitive as compared to what they can or get in their motherland (Tejada, Bhattacharya, KhadriaKuptsch, 2014). On the other hand what most of the companies offer them in the migrant country is obviously lesser than what they offer or could have offered to the domestic workers hence cheap labor. The other thing is that most of this nurses have been without a job in their motherland, this means they are desperate for money and they can settle for almost any amount offered to them as either salary or wages hence cheap labor (McNamee et al., 2014). In the long run, it helps the company to minimize its expenses thus leading to high profits wh ich can be plowed back into the business to expand its production. Another benefit the hospital can get from employing migrant nurses is ease of training facilities for the local or domestic workers. Training facilities are always very important to local workers or employees of a new organization (KellVogl, 2012). These training cost employer a lot of money to facilitate, as a result of this, they hire skilled migrant labors who are being paid a minimal amount of money and ask them to train others. It is important to note that skills are not only acquired through going to college or university. Foreign workers have versatile knowledge as compared to domestic workers, as a result employer get good talent at less expense. Hiring migrant nurses promotes diversity in an organization. Diversity is the difference in race, cultural differences, ethnicity and other social practices among people working together (Nohl, Schittenhelm, Schmidtke Weiss, 2014). It comes with a bunch of advantages to the hospital and employees too. Diversity in an organization develops a diverse experience among employees, it promotes learning, increases adaptability in an organization, increase productivity which is very essential to any sector, it promotes the hospital to offer range of services to different clients who might not have liked the hospitals services due to issues like language barrier, cultural differences, and difference in social practices between employees of an organization (Yeung, Brown Lee, 2012). All these advantages of diversity enable hospitals to boost its profits and return on investment management. The above advantages of employing migrant nurses clearly demonstrate that an organization can grow very fast and also make profits if they hire skilled migrants. The country also benefits indirectly as the growth of the companies increases its Gross Domestic Product in the international market. Disadvantages of Employing Migrant Nurses One of the disadvantages of employing migrant nurses is lack of commitment on their side. An employer invest on the employee in terms of organizing visa and how they settle, after a period of time they decide to quit due to an issue with being homesick and the employers investment goes in vain. Moreover, foreign workers will require longer holidays to travel back to their motherland and again to travel back (Nohl, Schittenhelm, Schmidtke Weiss, 2015). This time is essential to the company and it might cost it a lot in terms of customer relationship and profits. They might also be reluctant due to the fact that they feel to be working as the expatriate and hence cannot be fired easily. Another challenge of employing migrant nurses is the lack of lingua franca. Lingua franca simply means the common language (Yeung et al., 2012). The language barrier issue can be a great problem to organizations which hire skilled migrants, the nurses are skilled but there is always high possibility that they cannot speak the common language in the country they have been employed (Yeung et al., 2012). This forces the employer to invest in training this employee the common language as it will not only affect the employees confidence but also the organizations progress management. For example; a skilled migrant nurse can do the hospital work but it may be difficult to communicate with patients who are not able to express themselves in the language he or she understands. This means patients will not attend such hospital due to lack of the lingua franca thus leading to the downfall of the hospital. Risk Management of Migrant Nurses Whatever has its advantages must also have some challenges which come on board with it, the question is, how do you whether down the challenges if you have decided to employ migrant nurses? An employer needs to treat this nurses with dignity and without favor, once they feel they are being treated well, they will give back by being dedicated to doing their work promptly (Bauder, 2012). They will take most of their time trying to return the organization that favor and the more time they give dedicate in doing their work the more the organization benefits. A nurse, for example, will take his or her time to listen carefully to patients and provide them with the necessary services with honor, this will brighten the image of that hospital and attract more customers who will be flocking in thereby leading to it making more profits (Goldin, 2013). Employers should be very sensitive to the language barrier and invest in training the nurses employed. It may be costly but it will be a one-off training which when done will benefit the company (Yeung et al., 2012). Once employees are able to communicate in the language which is common in the country, they will gain confidence and do their work with ease avoiding the risk of being left out in terms of freedom of expression during group work. In the section of decision-making, an employer should involve this nurses in some decision making in order to build their confidence that they are also part of the company and their opinions are valued (Tejada et al,. 2013). They should be placed in departments where they work closely with the domestic workers to help them understand that they are not there to simply do specific duties which domestic workers are excluded from. When all this are practiced by the employer, they will realize the beauty in employing migrant nurses. They will work all heartedly to the hospital and the benefits of their dedication will grow the company to a higher level, increase profits and give a return on capital. Conclusion The issue of employing migrant nurses is not a new in hospitals, it has been practiced in Australia for decades since the number of graduate nurses within the country has always been low. Many hospitals are coming up due to demand but there is no manpower to fill the vacancies, this is a main reason why employing nurses on the 457 visa is still important and the government cannot remove those nurses once they are employed even if the law changes. Therefor an employer should not be worried about future change of laws, the country need these nurses more than ever. The human resource department should be trained on the features to look at when employing these workers in order to reduce some risk at the stage hiring (KellVogl, 2012). Having looked at the advantages which come along with hiring migrant nurses and also the challenges, it is crystal clear that employers should not be afraid of employing migrant nurses, they should simply find ways of handling the challenges which might come out of it as the benefits are much better. It will boost the hospitals growth and the countrys as a whole gross domestic product also goes high in the international market. References Ahsan, A., Abella, M., Beath, A. (2014). Why Study World Religions Essay Example

Why Study World Religions Paper PHL230 Religions of the World I think that it is important to study world religions because it can help people to become more tolerant of other’s beliefs and more compassionate to other people’s causes. With so much war and misunderstanding in the world based on religious viewpoints, it is important to take the time to find out where and why people believe the way that they do. While I find that most people in the world follow a religion based on their geographical location, this is not the case in the United States. Because the US is a country where people from all over the world can come to live it is a place where many different religions are practiced. It is important, especially for people in this country, to study world religions in order to know how to relate to others who live here. Religion has an influence on many aspects of life from politics, education, and the arts. It is important that we study all religions so we get a better understanding of how and why it influences these things. I think the greatest reason to study world religions is for appreciation. I also find that I see many similarities, as well as some differences, in religious ideas and rituals. I think that how we started our studies in this class, with indigenous religions we learned the basics of beliefs and where they originated. I think that because the essence of animism’s â€Å"everything is alive† theory we start to see how people first connected with God and nature. I think that most religions believe that God, or whatever they call him in that religion, is everywhere, that His hand was in the creation of all living things and that there is a purpose for everything. I also find it interesting that although most indigenous people never came into contact with anyone else, and lived in different regions of the world, many of the beliefs are similar. I understand more now how indigenous people could believe that violent weather can be perceived as a wrath from a god because of mistreatment of nature. I think that this is something that can be thought of in today’s world because of global warming. We have mistreated the land for so long and it seems to be taking revenge on us with various weather patterns. Even though in today’s world we see this as just an environmental thing, indigenous religions would see it as a god’s wrath because of the poor treatment of the land. I enjoyed learning about Hinduism and the aspects of karma and samsara I found to be the most interesting parts of the Hindu faith. I think because of the Hindu belief in these things they work towards living a more moral and respectful existence. Karma is the notion of moral consequences that are carried along with every act. (Molloy 87) Samsara is the wheel of life. It is a circle of constant rebirth, suggesting that the world is full of change. (Molloy 87) Because the Hindu believes that the things they do in life have consequences in their reincarnation it makes them try to live better so that their next life may be in a higher position. I find it interesting that in this religion what happens to the person in their next life is up to that individual himself, and it is up to that person to find their own path to their enlightenment. Hinduism is said to be a religion of one truth and may paths. This is something I also found to be different because in my religion of Christianity what happens to you after death is based only upon your belief in Jesus being your savior. The other religion I feel I became more knowledgeable about because of the studies in this class is Buddhism. I had no previous knowledge about this religion other than it existed. The most important concept I feel that I learned from Buddhism is part of the three marks of reality. These are made up of, change, no permanent identity and suffering. In no permanent identity each person and each thing is changing and made up of parts that are also constantly changing. It means that people have no permanent soul or no self. (Molloy133). In suffering it is the fact of life that when life is lived conventionally it can never be fully satisfying because of change. (Molloy pg 134) The mark of reality I found the most interesting is change. The concept of change in Buddhism has us look at life as it really is. Things change gradually and we notice the changes over time. We don’t expect change but nothing ever remains the same. Molloy132) When I learned this I looked over my life and have to admit, that much has changed over time. No matter how we try and keep things the same it is impossible. Children grow up, our body ages, our relationships change. Even things in the world things are constantly changing, landscapes change naturally from things like the tide or erosion, and seasons come and go. In Buddhism the belief is that we are responsible for accepting this and not trying to change the outside world but we need to change ourselves and the way we experience the world. Molloy 134) In studying the world religions I learned that there are similarities; they all seem to have a similar moral code. The basic concept of all religions is to treat everyone with kindness. Ahimsa, â€Å"do no harm†, is a fundamental practice found in religions like Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism. This is similar to the â€Å"do unto others† concept in Christianity. People should be kind to people as they want people to treat them kindly. I feel that prayer or meditation relate in a way to each other in different religions. Meditation in religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism are a way people can achieve inner peace and improve themselves as human beings. I find that prayer also can bring peace to a person. Prayer in religions like Christianity and Judaism is the way people speak and become closer to God. So in both prayer and meditation people improve themselves and achieve an inner peace. One difference that I learned in the course would be the concepts of time as they relate to religions. Religions such as animism, Hinduism and Buddhism have a cyclical view of time. This means there is no beginning or end but everything goes in a cycle. In Hinduism this is seen in the concept of samsara you are born, live, and are reincarnated so time is always going in a circle of life. In a religion like Christianity, there is a beginning and an end to time. The belief is that one day Jesus will return and then the end of the world where non believers will be sent to hell and the believers will ascend to heaven will happen. Another difference I learned about is in the amount of gods there are or the lack of any god in some religions. In Christianity, Judaism and Islam there is one God and God alone is worshipped. In a religion like Hinduism there are several deities that are worshipped. In Hinduism there is the Brahma, god of the universe, creation. Vishnu is the god of preservation in the universe. Shiva is the god associated to destruction. There are also several other gods in Hinduism like Devi, Durga, Kali, Krishna, and Vishnu. A religion like Daoism has no definite god only a belief of the Dao which is nameless and everything is a manifestation of the Dao. (Molloy 221) I would say that by studying world religions I did come away with many things I had not thought of or knew of before. I think it was beneficial for me because it gave me a better understanding of how people in different regions of the world think. Religion has an effect on many aspects of a person’s thinking. I think because of this, myself being a psychology major, the study of world religions has been very beneficial for me. I will know how to better relate to people of other cultures and schools of thought better because of my study. Works Cited: Molloy, Michael.
